4 Ways to stay cozy and warm for your winter wedding

Winter is such a beautiful time, a fresh coat of snow makes everything look so clean, there’s an unparalleled peace to the season, but dang can it be cold and can that ruin a lot of fun!

I’ve shot several winter weddings and even more winter engagement and family sessions and have picked up a few tricks along the way to keep warm in chilly temperatures.

  1. Hand/body warmers

I keep several packs of these in my car so I have them whenever I need them. Sticking them in pockets and boots can bring just enough warmth to keep spirits high. My favorite brand has been Grabber, they seem to heat up quicker and stay warm longer. Pick up several packs of these after deer hunting season as they are usually on sale!

2. Warm Layers

Keeping warm is all about keeping your core warm. Warm base layers such as leggings and long sleeved shirts designed for this purpose are your best bet. If you’re wearing a dress, white or nude colored leggings look best for photos. Socks and winter boots will help keep your feet warm for trudging through the snow and good boots will provide traction for those winter treks.

3. Wraps and fun Jackets

If you still want to show off your dressy option, but stay warm in those moments in between a cozy wrap or gorgeous jacket is a great option. A fur wrap is a great classic option, but jackets from companies such as Pendleton, Filson, or others are gorgeous as well. It can be fun to try and find something vintage for a one of a kind aesthetic too!

4. Warm Beverages

Why not celebrate with a nice hot cider or hot chocolate? Get some enamel mugs with a favorite saying or your wedding date to have a nice useful memento! Store your warm beverage in a thermos to keep warm until it’s poured.
