Ways to Include Friends and Family in your Wedding Day

With the current situation, your wedding may be looking differently than you had planned. Your guest list may be getting cut down to a handful of people, your venue may be closed, and so many more things out of your control are having an effect on a day that is so special to you. Being in the wedding industry I’ve seen a lot of weddings and wanted to share some ways I’ve seen people celebrate their day and included family and friends in a unique way.

Livestreaming

We live in a digital age and while many of us are having meetings and hang outs on Zoom and other platforms, it’s also a great way to include those who can’t be there in person. Canon also recently came out with a tool to allow you to use certain types of Canon cameras as a way to upgrade your video quality for online video conferencing. More information on that can be found here! Be sure to test out your setup a couple of days prior to iron out an issues.

Video Messages from Friends

While many of your friends can’t be there to make speeches and well wishes in person, they can still send them through video. Have your friends send video messages to your email and then watch them after your ceremony or during a quiet moment on your day.

Later Reception/Party

Even beyond this current time, I’ve seen many couples do a small ceremony and then a larger party/reception with friends at a later date. This gives you a chance to bring all of your people together at a later date when it is safe to do so and really be able to relax and celebrate with them.

Special Roles

Involve those you choose to celebrate with in a special way. Have them read special things, give heartfelt speeches, or even present your rings when the time comes!

Share Your Online Wedding Gallery

Most photographers deliver images through an online gallery platform, these galleries often include links that can be shared with your friends and family. It’s a great way to relive your wedding day and share it with those that couldn’t be there.

However you choose to include the people in your life in your wedding day, be sure to follow the guidelines of your local health officials so that we all can stay healthy and eventually celebrate in person one day.
