Should You Do a First Look?

Should You Do a First Look?

Many couples decide to do a first look and spend some time together before the ceremony. Sometimes it’s partly for logistical reasons such as having to travel together to the ceremony location or being able to do photos beforehand, but all of them have enjoyed having this personal emotional moment. I asked one of my couples to tell you why they chose to do a first look.

Here is what Chelsea and Mason had to say about their first look.

Chelsea: I was initially nervous about the first look because I didn't want to take away from the "magic" of that moment when coming down the aisle. Now that everything is said and done, I would recommend a first look to every couple! First, because it allows you to get a majority of the pictures done before the ceremony so you have more time afterward for cocktails and mingling with your guests. Most importantly, it helped with the butterflies - I was able to let all of my emotion out before the ceremony and not feel silly about it because it was just the 2 of us. Brooke made us feel so comfortable - the pictures from that moment are some of my favorite from the entire day.

Mason: Doing a first look really helped me calm my nerves. I liked that it gave us a moment to ourselves prior to the ceremony where we could really take it all in. The day goes so fast so having 15-20 minutes with just the two of us was really special.

In the end it’s your choice whether you want to share those emotional moments just the two of you or with family and friends.
